The Rebuilding of Christchurch – What Could Delay It?

As the number of aftershocks surpass 700, the planning efforts to re-establish the affected areas of Christchurch, Kaiapoa and other effected areas continue to intensify. With over 44,000 property damage claims already registered and over 5000 homes deemed to be uninhabitable or non weather-tight, there is a huge demand looming for designing the redevelopment and repairs of the severely damaged buildings.

So with the current demand of claims assessments flowing through to accessing finance/claims and then design, council and builders and tradespeople we are interested in your thoughts on what parts of the process could provide bottlenecks, slowing the recovery to allow thousands of families and businesses to return to their homes and offices.
