Description

The Ribon Sloping Continuous Interlocking Soffit System is a pre-finished, coil-coated steel roll-formed soffit panelling system designed for residential and commercial architectural eaves. The sloping configuration utilises a specialised proprietary bracketing system engineered to integrate the fascia and soffit for articulation in sloping eaves applications.

The system components include:

Ribon Soffit Panels: Roll-formed from 0.55 BMT G300 Colorcote Magnaflow or Magnaflow X pre-coated coil steel, featuring an effective cover width of 150mm (149.5mm) and manufactured in custom lengths up to 8m.
Sloping Support Brackets (SSB & FB): Manufactured from 0.95mm or 1.15mm Zincalume or Duralume, these two-piece brackets side-fix to rafters to support sloping profiles and can accommodate a standard 90mm x 45mm rafter between them.
Ribon Fascia Pivot Brackets: Profiled steel brackets fixed to the soffit assembly to support sloping soffits from 0° to 22.5°, allowing full integration with a 150mm or 180mm deep pressed metal fascia/gutter system.
Trims: Custom-folded 0.55 BMT Colorcote edge, mitre, and join trims to conceal cut ends and manage transitions without visible fixings.

Key Features

Sloping Eaves Integration: Specifically designed with a dual-bracket assembly (SSB and FB) and fascia pivot brackets to seamlessly align and articulate across pitches from 0° to 22.5° (for pitches beyond 22.5, please refer to Drawings sheet 29)
Integrated Eaves System: Integrates the architectural soffit panels, fascia panel, spouting profile, and downpipes under a single material range and warranty, reducing sub-trade coordination.
Concealed Fixings: The interlocking panel profile engages directly into the proprietary brackets, eliminating visible face fixings and protecting against premature corrosion at penetration points.
High Durability Material: Utilises a zinc/aluminium/magnesium alloy coated steel coil (275 g/m²) with a corrosion-resistant chromate conversion coating and pre-painted polyester or PVDF finishes.
Sustainable and Low Waste: Panels are custom roll-formed to practical lengths, reducing onsite installation waste to less than 3%. The steel components are 100% recyclable.

Scope of Use

Residential sloping soffits, including entrance ways, covered walk ways and outdoor areas such as porticos and porte cochere.
Engineered for installation on the underside of sloping roof overhangs, raking eaves, and barge details
Suitable for use with supporting timber, steel framing, or concrete structures compliant with NZBC Clause B1.
Suitable for use in buildings situated in Wind Zones up to and including Extra High.
Suitable for use in Exposure Zones B, C, and D.
Appraised for use in specific design wind pressures up to 8.56 kPa when concealed screw-fixed to support brackets.

Limitations on Use

Use as wall cladding has not been assessed by BRANZ and is outside the scope of the appraisal.
Must be installed by specialist, approved or competent tradespeople.
Supporting framing is outside the scope of the BRANZ appraisal and must be specifically designed or comply with NZS 3604 or relevant steel framing standards.
Separation must be ensured between the soffit system and cladding materials unsuitable for contact (e.g. masonry veneer, CCA-treated timber).
Additional maintenance may be required in Exposure zone D.

Statement of Building Code Compliance

The Ribon Continuous Interlocking Sloping Soffit System, if designed, used, installed, and maintained in accordance with the conditions of Ribon Limited's technical literature, will comply with, or contribute to compliance with, the following performance provisions of the NZ Building Code:

Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2, and B1.3.4.
Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1 (b) 15 years and B2.3.2.
Clause E2 EXTERNAL MOISTURE: Performance E2.3.2.
Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1.

Other Performance Attributes

Fire Performance: Components are manufactured from non-combustible materials with applied surface coatings less than 1mm thick.
Sustainability: The metal used is 100% recyclable, reducing hazardous building waste and onsite pollution.

Warranty & Maintenance

ColorCote or COLORSTEEL provide a 15 year warranty
Ribon Limited gives a 2 year warranty on workmanship provided by an approved installer.
Regular maintenance is essential, including a manual wash down with water and a soft-bristled brush at least every six months to remove airborne salts and contaminants.
More frequent washdown maintenance may be required in coastal areas (Corrosion zone D).
