Description

Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan Heat Pumps can provide highly efficient hot water to swimming pools and spas. Comprised of a durable outdoor hot water heat pump, specialised heat exchanger, flow switch and advanced controller, Ecodan is a robust and cost effective way to heat pools or spas all year round.

Ecodan split systems are great for pool and spa applications and require an external heat exchanger. The flexibility of this system allows the installer to position the heat exchanger right where the hot water is required and the outdoor unit out of sight, ideal for both new and retrofit installations — minimising water pipe runs and the risk of freezing related issues when located in colder climates.

Utilising high density plastics and titanium heat exchangers, these systems are built to handle the potentially corrosive pool environment.

The system is controlled by the advanced PAC-IF071B-E Controller.

Swimming Pool Heating

Most swimming pools are only used during the summer months and remain unused for the rest of the year. Installing a hot water heat pump can enable enjoyment swimming pool year-round. The range of split PUHZ Hot Water Heat Pumps can be matched with a titanium coil heat exchanger. This removes the risk of coil degradation due to salt or chlorine conditions.

Spa Pool Heating

Spa pools consume more power than many swimming pools due to higher temperatures and potential heat losses. Installing a hot water heat pump to an existing spa pool can significantly reduce heating costs. Power consumption can be reduced by three to four times.

Residential Hot Water

Scope of Use

Ecodan Pool systems are intended to be used in combination with existing pool filtration / pumping equipment; other components will be required for new build installs.

Ideal for retrofits into existing concrete and fiberglass pool systems both indoors and outdoors, as well as highly efficient spa pool heating.

Operation in outdoor temperatures as low as -25°C (PUHZ-SHW80/112VAA and PUHZ-SHW230YKA2 Zubadan models only)

Limitations on Use

Ecodan pool heat exchangers cannot be used for the production of domestic hot water.
Ecodan pool heat exchangers are not suitable for high temperature radiator and underfloor systems. See Ecodan for space heating for more details on these systems.
Due to the large number of variables, a simple calculation of heat pump capacity is not always possible. Mitsubishi Electric recommend you contact our team who is on hand to assess pool heating requirements.

New generation Zubadan Inverter Technology* provides powerful heating in cold regions where heat pump performance can diminish. With Zubadan, rated heating capacity is maintained even in outdoor temperatures as low as -15°C, with guaranteed heating operation at -25°C.
