SolarPro Light Triple Glazing
Description

SolarPro™ Light combines high thermal insulation with effective solar control and strong natural-light transmission.

It provides up to 82% better heat retention and reduces solar heat gain by up to 54% compared with standard double glazing, while allowing 66% of visible light to pass through. It is suited to large, sun exposed windows where year round comfort and natural light are priorities.

Key Features
  • Clear to neutral appearance
  • Up to 82% better heat retention than standard double glazing
  • Reduces solar heat gain by up to 54% compared with standard double glazing
  • Lets in 66% of visible light
  • Helps manage overheating while retaining natural light
  • Three panes of glass with two insulating cavities
  • Low E coating, argon gas and thermal spacers
  • Suitable for residential windows and doors
  • Can be combined with laminated, tinted or obscure glass
  • Ug centre of glass value of 0.6 based on a 4-14-4-14-4 make up
  • Processed locally in New Zealand
  • Suitable for high performance and low energy home designs
Scope of Use

Suitable for new residential and multi-residential windows and doors requiring high thermal performance, solar control and natural light.

SolarPro™ Light is particularly suited to:

  • Energy efficient and low-carbon homes
  • Passive House and high-performance building designs
  • Large windows and glazed doors
  • North, east and west facing elevations
  • Sun-exposed living areas
  • Homes in warmer or high-sunlight locations
  • Rooms where overheating may be a risk
  • Projects requiring solar control without a strongly tinted appearance
  • Thermally efficient window systems designed to exceed minimum H1 requirements
  • Buildings within NZS 3604 wind zones up to and including Extra High, subject to appropriate glass, panel size and frame selection
Limitations on Use
  • SolarPro™ Light reduces solar heat gain and may reduce beneficial passive solar heating during colder periods.
  • Triple glazed units require a larger glazing pocket than double-glazed units. Frame compatibility must be confirmed before specification.
  • Triple glazing is approximately 30% to 50% heavier than double glazing, which affects handling, installation, hardware and structural requirements.
  • Must be glazed in accordance with Metro Performance Glass glazing instructions, the frame supplier’s requirements and the current New Zealand Building Code
Statement of Building Code Compliance

When specified as part of an appropriately designed and installed window or door system, SolarPro™ Light Low-E Triple Glazing complies with or can contribute to compliance with relevant provisions of the New Zealand Building Code, including:

  • B1 Structure
  • B2 Durability
  • E2 External Moisture, as part of the complete window or door system
  • F2 Hazardous Building Materials
  • F4 Safety from Falling, where specifically designed for this purpose
  • G7 Natural Light
  • H1 Energy Efficiency
Other Performance Attributes

Performance data is based on a nominal 4-14-4-14-4 triple-glazed unit with argon gas and thermal spacers:

  • Visible light transmission 9VLT): 66%
  • Fading protection (Tdw-ISO): 0.50
  • Appearance: Neutral tone
  • Triple glazed units incorporate three panes of glass and two argon filled cavities
  • Triple glazed units are manufactured and tested in accordance with BS EN1279
  • Safety glass options are manufactured in accordance with AS/NZS 2208
