Metro TempaClad™ Solid-Colour Glass is suitable for commercial, institutional, multi-residential, retail and selected residential projects.

TempaClad™ can be selected to harmonise with adjacent glass or provide a contrasting façade feature. Metro’s published colour range includes commonly specified architectural colours for interior and exterior glass applications

• TempaClad™ should not be confused with body tinted float glass or rear painted splashback glass. It is thermally processed ceramic frit glass.
• Final colour and appearance are influenced by glass thickness, glass substrate, lighting, background, viewing angle and ceramic frit application.
• A full-size sample or project-specific mock-up should be reviewed where colour matching or façade uniformity is critical.
• Colour variation may occur between different production batches.
• TempaClad™ is generally intended to be viewed from the glass face rather than directly from the frit-coated surface.
• The coated surface should be positioned and protected in accordance with Metro’s installation requirements.
• Heat-treated glass can exhibit visual distortion, roller wave, anisotropy and reflected-image variation.
• Solid-colour ceramic frit does not independently provide insulation, waterproofing or structural support.
• Spandrel and façade applications require coordination with insulation, shadow boxes, back pans, framing, sealants and surrounding envelope construction.
• Thermal stress and heat build-up must be considered in façade and spandrel design.
• All holes, cut-outs, notches and edge processing must be completed before heat treatment.
• Toughened or heat-strengthened TempaClad™ cannot be cut, drilled or modified after manufacture.
• Safety, structural and external-moisture requirements must be assessed for the complete installed system.
• Sealants, adhesives and glazing materials must be compatible with the ceramic frit surface.
• Installation must follow Metro’s instructions, approved project documentation and the current New Zealand Building Code.

When correctly selected, designed, manufactured and installed, Metro TempaClad™ Solid-Colour Glass complies with or can contribute to compliance with relevant provisions of the New Zealand Building Code, including:

• B1 Structure
• B2 Durability
• E2 External Moisture, as part of a complete external façade or glazing system
• F2 Hazardous Building Materials
• F4 Safety from Falling, where incorporated into a specifically designed and compliant barrier system

Additional clauses may apply according to the product’s location and function. TempaClad™ does not independently establish the compliance of a façade, wall or cladding system.

Compliance must be assessed for the complete system, including the glass, ceramic frit, fixings, framing, sealants, supporting structure, insulation and building-envelope interfaces.

• Ceramic frit is fused to the glass during toughening or heat strengthening to create a durable finish.
• Solid colour options can provide opaque decorative glass for spandrels and other façade applications.
• TempaClad™ can be specified to coordinate with or contrast against adjacent vision glass.
• Toughened safety-glass options are manufactured in accordance with AS/NZS 2208.
• Glass selection and installation are undertaken with reference to NZS 4223.
• Structural performance depends on glass thickness, panel dimensions, support conditions, edge quality and project-specific loads.
• Colour and visual performance depend on the glass substrate, coating, lighting and installed background.
• Thermal performance depends on the complete spandrel or façade assembly rather than the coloured glass alone.

Warranty & Maintenance

• Warranty coverage is subject to Metro’s applicable TempaClad™, ceramic frit and processed glass warranty terms.
• Refer to the Metro Performance Glass warranty documentation for coverage, exclusions and claim requirements.
• Maintain in accordance with the attached Metro Performance Glass glass-care and maintenance guide.
• Protect the frit-coated surface from incompatible sealants, adhesives and physical damage.
• Colour variation, heat-treatment distortion and appearance under different lighting conditions should be assessed against the applicable visual-quality criteria and approved samples.
