Glass type, thickness, fixings, adhesive and edge treatment should be selected for the panel size, location, heat exposure, substrate and intended use.

• The supporting wall or substrate must be flat, stable, dry and suitable for the selected fixing or adhesive system.
• Splashbacks must be installed using adhesives and sealants compatible with the glass, backing colour or digital print.
• Required clearances from gas cooktops, open flames and other heat sources must be confirmed against the appliance manufacturer’s instructions and applicable regulations.
• Heat exposure and temperature differentials must be considered when selecting the glass type and panel configuration.
• Final colour can be influenced by glass thickness, iron content, lighting and the colour of the substrate.
• A sample should be reviewed where accurate colour matching is important.
• Painted or printed backing should be protected from moisture, incompatible adhesives and physical damage.
• Exterior use requires separate technical assessment and should not be assumed from an interior splashback specification.
• Installation must follow Metro’s instructions and the current New Zealand Building Code.

When correctly selected, manufactured and installed, Metro Glass Splashbacks comply with or can contribute to compliance with relevant provisions of the New Zealand Building Code, including:

Compliance depends on the complete installation, including the glass, substrate, adhesive, sealants, edge clearances, appliance clearances and workmanship.

• Toughened glass provides increased mechanical and thermal strength compared with standard annealed glass.
• Toughened safety glass options are manufactured in accordance with AS/NZS 2208.
• The smooth glass surface is easy to wipe clean and does not have the textured grout lines associated with tiled finishes.
• Solid-colour glass is painted on the rear face to protect the colour within the completed installation.
• Digitally printed splashbacks use ceramic glass-printing technology for custom designs.
• EzyClean technology can be applied to selected splashback and digital-print surfaces to help repel dirt and grime.
• Final performance depends on the selected glass, heat exposure, edge processing, substrate, adhesive and installation

Warranty & Maintenance

• Warranty coverage is subject to Metro’s applicable splashback, painted-glass or digitally printed glass warranty terms.
• Refer to Metro Performance Glass warranty documentation for coverage, exclusions and claim requirements.
• Maintain in accordance with the attached Metro Performance Glass glass care and maintenance guide.
• Maintain perimeter sealants and replace deteriorated or damaged seals.
• Do not place excessive heat directly against the glass.
• Damage caused by incorrect appliance clearances, incompatible adhesives, poor substrates or post manufacture alterations may not be covered.
• EzyClean treated splashbacks must be maintained in accordance with Metro’s EzyClean care instructions.
