Aluminium Retrofit Double Glazing is particularly suited to:

• Existing aluminium windows and doors in sound condition
• Residential homes with thermally inefficient single glazing
• Fixed windows, opening windows and selected sliding doors
• Projects where retaining the existing joinery is preferred
• Homes requiring improved thermal comfort
• Rooms affected by heat loss, summer overheating or outside noise
• Staged installations completed room by room or elevation by elevation
• Projects requiring Low-E, solar-control, acoustic, safety or privacy glass
• Projects where cost is a big factor

The appropriate glass is selected according to the building’s location, orientation, window size and the homeowner’s priorities for heat retention, solar control, natural light, privacy and noise reduction

• Existing aluminium joinery must be inspected and confirmed as suitable before installation.
• Some early aluminium joinery systems, particularly selected systems from the 1970s, may not accommodate retrofit double glazing.
• Must be installed in accordance with Metro Performance Glass requirements and the current New Zealand Building Code.

When the existing joinery has been assessed as suitable and the glass is correctly selected, manufactured and installed, Retrofit Double Glazing complies with the relevant provisions of the New Zealand Building Code and the 4223 human impact standards.

The appropriate glass make up must be selected to meet applicable structural and safety glazing requirements. Consent requirements are generally not required for a like for like replacement such as Retrofit double glazing.
