StormCell
Description

StormCell is an engineered modular below ground stormwater tank system.

Smaller site sizes with reduced permeable areas are putting increasing presssure on the local infrastructure, dealing with stomrwater on-site is a key factor in the design process.

StormCell offers flexible design whilst being light weight and high load bearing. Minimal componentry for rapid installtion and a high void ratio enable the best utilisation of space.

Scope of Use

StormCell is an engineered modular and scaleable system used for on-site infiltration and retention of stormwater runoff from building developements.

Stormwater soakage systems are designed to capture rainwater and control its release back back into the local aquafiers over time.

Stormwater attenuation systems are designed to release water in a controlled manner without putting excessive loads on the local infrastructure.

Detention systems will ahve an impermeable linmer which will retain the water. The system will have a restricted outlet specified to permit the appropriate release of water that the downstream instructure is can tolerate

Stormwater design is covered by the New Zealand Building Code E1, Surface Water.

Systems are typically designed by either civil or drainage engineers 

 

Limitations on Use

Use in highly geothermal or toxic environments need to bne specifically assessed for product suitability.

Always consult with civil or drainage engineers to determine suitability and appropriate design. 

Statement of Building Code Compliance

Durability B2/VM1 1.3, 100% Virgin Polyproplene manufactured under ISO:9001 (20125). Unaffected by moulds, algae and soil borne chemicals, bacteria adn bitumen. Service life of 50 year minimum.

Structure B1, Independant load testing by WPS Laboratories to CIRIA (2016) test standard.

Hazardous Building Material F2, Performance F2.3.1. StormCell meets this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people. 

In-Service History

Geocellular units were first introduced to the UK in the early 1990's. Over the last 15 years numerous different types and styles have to market.

StormCells have been available since 2013. The largest recorded projects on record are in the urban cities to the north west of Kuwait. Products are still be supplied to the cities, most tanks are more than 10,000m3.

StormCells first came to New Zealand in 2019.

A number of projects have been supplied from residential, commerical, vested interest sites and high density housing projects.
