Thermakraft Vapour Shield
Description

Vapour Shield is intended for use as a vapour barrier layer ideally for skillion roof construction where condensation and moisture vapour control as required behind internal cladding.  Vapour Shield is a woven polyethylene coated both sides with polyethylene film — black on one side white on the other, can be laid either side up.

Vapour Shield is tear resistant and can withstand climate extremes. It is moisture proof and impervious to rot, mildew and most chemicals.

Scope of Use
  • Underlayment for roof construction, where condensation and moisture control is required
  • Acts to keep sarking dry until roof is fixed
  • Acts as vapour control layer during serviceable life of roof
  • Can be laid either side up
Limitations on Use
  • Do not leave exposed for more than 7 days
  • Allow 150mm lap
  • All joints and penetrations must be sealed
  • Special caution — should have a minimum clearance of 200mm from the chimney flue
  • not self supporting
  • not fire retardant
Statement of Building Code Compliance

Thermakraft Vapour Shield Moisture Control Barrier, if correctly installed, will meet the performance requirements of NZBC:

  • Clause B2, Durability (B2.3.1[a] 50 years), and B2.3.1 (b) 15 years
  • Clause E2, External Moisture
