The JSC Interior Panelling & Sarking guide outlines the installation of JSC Timber panelling to internal applications in buildings covered by New Zealand building code that govern the fire performance requirements of materials used in the construction of all building forms.

• Suitable for semi-wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and laundries
• JSC Timber interior lining can be installed vertically, horizontally, or diagonally
• Timber panelling can be installed directly on framing or battens

JSC interior lining must be installed by a suitably qualified and experienced trade person. Where Restricted Building Work (RBW) is applied the installer must be a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) or supervised by an LBP.

Installation:

• JSC Timber interior lining can be installed vertically, horizontally, or diagonally
• Timber panelling can be installed directly on framing or battens at maximum centres of 450mm on ceilings where at 600mm centres for walls (internal use only)
• Panelling attached over other sheet linings can use 600mm centres for support
• For thin panelling application restrain the insulation on other materials that might push the timber out

Fixing:

• Studs must be clean and straight if internal panelling is installed directly to the studs or ceiling battens
• Horizontal panelling may be fixed directly to the studs
• Extra battens or noggins might be required when panelling to be installed vertically on a wall
• Install battens over the concrete blocks prior to installation of panelling with mechanical fixings (Refer to manufacturer’s requirements)
• Panelling can be fixed by: Face Nailing; secret nailing; screwing; hidden clipping; adhesives
