Striking the perfect balance between practicality, durability and style isn’t easy. So when it all comes together? It’s worth celebrating.

That’s exactly why Vynco’s Metro X range of outdoor switchgear has been nominated for a design award.

The brief sounded simple.

Create outdoor switches and sockets with architectural appeal — durable enough for Kiwi conditions and easy to use.

But turning that idea into reality required innovation and sheer determination.

From its inception early 2022 to its product release earlier this year, the Vynco design team spent nearly 3,000 thousand hours fine-tuning gear that combines modern design with hardy, reliable engineering.

The result, the proudly Kiwi company reckons, is award-worthy. Metro X has been nominated for the Designers Institute of New Zealand ‘Best Design Awards’.

“From a dog-walk observation of mismatched exteriors to a made-to-match range, Metro X moves us closer to co-ordinated exteriors, with weather-ready switchgear that is designed to belong,” says Vynco Managing Director Simon Vale.

Every little detail of Metro X has been thoughtfully considered and executed.

The internal layout of parts and wiring is designed with the installer in mind (translation: it’s user-friendly), and is all housed within a sleek exterior.

Every element of this gear underwent a rigorous testing regime that far exceeded basic compliance. This included UV testing, thermal cycling, impact resistance, dust and vibration testing, switch load performance in elevated ambient temperatures, and plug insertion testing.

“What we’ve got with Metro X is a clean, robust range of outdoor kit that performs exactly as it should and looks great doing it,” adds Vale.

And — true to Vynco form — Metro X is made to match the brand’s other ranges.

That’s the game-changer: while others focus on indoor flow, Vynco takes it outdoors… extending cohesion to the patio, garden or BBQ area.

And for those after switchgear with a bolder edge, new marine-grade anodised aluminium options are on the way — along with Metro X lights and sensors.

Whatever you choose, whatever the weather, Vynco has you covered — indoor and out.
