In the heart of Auckland, the Northcote College campus underwent a major redevelopment completed in November 2025. The staged upgrade presented a unique challenge: multiple stairways, ramps and high-risk retaining wall edges across the site demanded a flexible yet code-compliant safety solution.

Moddex worked closely with Decker Landscapes & Civil to deliver a combination of Assistrail disability handrails (AR10, AR30, AR40, AR130) and Conectabal commercial balustrades (CB10, CB40), tailored to seven stairs, three ramps and nine retaining walls with boundary fencing. Varying mount types and finish options ensured seamless integration with architectural intent while exceeding NZ safety and accessibility expectations.

Designed for adaptability, the modular systems supported phased installation without delaying the programme — an outcome that matters in live educational settings. For design teams specifying barrier systems on complex sites, this project underscores the value of pre-engineered, flexible solutions that combine compliance, durability and constructability.
