In this serene residence, the client sought a connected and calming interior; one that flowed effortlessly from one room to the next. Designer Courtney Bailey of The Custom Space delivered exactly that, using Hettich hardware to ensure the cabinetry worked silently and intuitively behind the scenes. The result is a home that exemplifies both thoughtful joinery and enduring quality.
The Custom Space is a design and joinery studio known for its holistic approach. “We’ve used Hettich in this project not only because of the reliability and quality of the product, but because our rep John is genuinely invested in helping us find the best solutions,” said the Custom Space team. This relationship supported the seamless execution of a design-led build where cabinetry played a central role.
The concept
The vision for the home was grounded in creating a sense of sanctuary, where clean lines, soft finishes, and natural materials guide the experience of living. From the custom oak bedhead with integrated lighting to a chef-worthy kitchen layout with dual benchtops, the design is a quiet celebration of form meeting function. The cabinetry serves both aesthetic and practical purposes, enhancing every space without drawing attention to itself.
The requirement
The brief was deceptively simple: each room had to feel calm while meeting specific daily needs. From a minimalist desk nook for productivity to a kitchen designed for both entertaining and family life. Behind that serenity was a complex challenge to design joinery solutions that concealed clutter, preserved flow, and aligned visually across multiple spaces. Maintaining consistency in tone and texture, from oak panels to concealed drawer systems, was key to delivering a unified design language.
About the product
Hettich hardware was essential to achieving the home’s vision. The AvanTech YOU drawers were specified in a white finish and mounted on premium Actro YOU runners, upgraded with Push to open Silent for whisper-quiet function. These were paired with OrgaTray drawer organisation systems, enabling customised internal layouts that reduced clutter and improved access.
The soft-close and push-to-open mechanisms helped reinforce the sense of sanctuary, while the minimal aesthetic of Hettich’s systems contributed to the visual calm. Whether in the kitchen, wardrobe, or vanities, every interaction with the joinery felt refined and effortless — an example of high-performing solutions that elevate the everyday.
