Carpet Tiles Bring an Organic Touch to an Industrial Interior

HWR Tower is Invercargill’s tallest building in the heart of the CBD. Across eight levels, the tower includes ground-level retail, office spaces above, and a rooftop penthouse. The open-plan commercial levels of the building reveal exposed services and a graphic central stairwell, creating an industrial aesthetic. Carpet tiles have been used in these spaces to bring softness visually and acoustically, with the Unispace interior design team specifying organic patterns that vary between spaces.

Biophilia — nature-inspired design — helps build a sense of wellness in spaces by subconsciously connecting us to the rhythms of nature. In the HWR Tower, Unispace has incorporated biophilia to enhances the experience within the space, promoting a more relaxed sense of wellbeing that positively affects mood, and as a result, helps productivity.

DSGN Cloud commercial carpet tiles from modulyss, add a biophilic design element to the floors, with the dappled tone of the flooring providing a contrast to the industrial elements of the project. These carpet tiles also contribute to the acoustic comfort of the space by reducing contact noise by 42 decibels.

Ultimately the choice to use DSGN Cloud has enhanced the office spaces at HWR Tower, helping to balance industrial elements with biophilic design to ensure a more comfortable workspace.
