The idea: Reinforcing a global brand's redesign

Refurbishing Kia’s Newmarket dealership, designers RCG worked in line with the carmaker’s global Red Cube guidelines to create a flagship showroom for Auckland City and the central suburbs. Shuttle entrance matting from Advance Flooring provides a quality first impression while protecting the interior.

"As the first point of contact in the showroom, the matting is designed to greet customers as they enter," says RCG’s Yuchen Zuo. "It needs to withstand high foot traffic while also enduring the constant movement of vehicles in and out of the space."

The design: Clean and sophisticated

Part of a major development of the dealership network nationwide, the design showcases Kia’s latest lineup of cars and SUVs. The upgraded exteriors and interiors are clean and sophisticated, providing customers with a professional and comfortable experience.

"The updated design incorporates two distinct colour schemes," says Zuo, "a sleek, modern silver for the showroom area and a warm, welcoming red palette for the customer space. These colour choices are complemented by materials that reflect Kia's updated brand identity."

"We're pleased to have found Advance’s Shuttle entrance matting, which effectively meets both functional and aesthetic needs. Shuttle features a minimalist grid design with a variety of colour options, which was important in integrating it seamlessly with the overall look and feel."

The outcome: Elegance and performance combined

Made from highly absorbent material, Shuttle helps reduce slip hazards by soaking up moisture as it enters the space. The polyamide fibres also trap dust and dirt, ensuring that the showroom always looks pristine while minimising maintenance.

"The showroom has space to display 25 vehicles, which will be rotated regularly, so it was important we used an entrance matting that could stand up to rolling loads and high foot traffic while still looking stylish and elegant, in line with Kia’s Red Cube design. Shuttle does that perfectly."
