Product Thumbnail Image Orientation

Update

Product thumbnail images crop by default rather than centring and applying padding. However EBOSS can manually override this for product thumbnail images, setting them to centre and apply white padding (good for square or portrait images with white backgrounds like shower heads that lose key elements when cropped).

Example of Cropped Thumbnails

A “Focus point” has also been added for images that are cropped, allowing suppliers to move the crop from the default middle of the image to another part of the image (eg for a shower head the crop could include the top head in the image.)

Further detail

Case study and blog post thumbnail images always crop. Whilst focus point can be applied, there is currently no override to center and apply padding. Note that images in the gallery on the product page (the big version of their thumbnails) will always center and apply padding even if the thumbnail is set to crop — this way portrait images can be viewed in full.
