Rothoblaas Transpir Metal — Metal Roofing & Cladding Acoustic Membrane
Description

Rothoblaas Traspir Metal is a high-performance breathable membrane designed for use in metal roofing and cladding systems. It provides excellent protection against moisture while allowing vapour to escape, ensuring the longevity and efficiency of the roofing/cladding structure.

Rothoblaas Traspir Metal is available in 2 forms: Traspir 3D Coat TT and 3D Net.

Traspir 3D Coat TT

Composed of three layers of non-woven polypropylene (PP) fabric, a middle layer of 3-dimensional PP fabric, and a PP breathable film. The fifth layer blocks impurities and enhances ventilation. This underlay reduces noise from heavy rain by up to 4 dB and can withstand weather exposure for up to 4 weeks. When installed on a continuous support, it promotes micro-ventilation of metal roofs, preventing corrosion. It is supplied in rolls measuring 1.35m wide and 33m in length.

3D Net

A 3-dimensional polypropylene (PP) fabric that facilitates micro-ventilation, preventing corrosion and enhancing the durability of metal roofs and cladding. Product is supplied in rolls measuring 1.25m wide and 50m in length.

Key Features
  • Breathability — Allows vapour to escape, preventing condensation and moisture buildup
  • Waterproofing — Offers robust protection against water ingress
  • UV Resistance — Durable under prolonged exposure to sunlight
  • High Tensile Strength — Ensures durability and resistance to tearing
Scope of Use
  • Metal Roofing/cladding Systems: Ideal for use in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings with metal roofs/cladding.
  • New Construction: Suitable for new builds requiring efficient moisture management.
  • Renovations: Effective in retrofitting existing metal roofing/cladding systems to improve performance.

Intended Use:

  • Micro-Ventilation: Facilitates the micro-ventilation of metal roofs/cladding, preventing corrosion and extending the roof/cladding lifespan.
  • Soundproofing: Reduces noise from heavy rain by up to 4 dB, enhancing indoor comfort.
  • Moisture Management: Allows vapor to escape, preventing condensation and moisture buildup.

Installation:

  • Self-Adhering Properties: The Traspir 3D Coat TT membrane features self-adhering properties, which simplify the installation process.
  • Flexible Material: The three-dimensional polypropylene (PP) fabric adapts to surface irregularities, ensuring a secure fit.
  • Quick Application: The product can be applied quickly, saving time during assembly.
  • Weather Resistance: Traspir 3D Coat TT membrane recommended exposed to weather conditions for up to 2 weeks, 3D Net exposure to weather conditions for up to 4 weeks ensuring durability during installation. This allows for some flexibility during installation schedules.
Limitations on Use

These factors should be considered to ensure optimal use and performance of Traspir Metal in roofing and cladding applications:

  • Material Compatibility: Specifically designed for metal roofs; may not be as effective with other roofing materials.
  • Climate Considerations: Performance may vary in extreme climates; additional measures might be required.
  • Installation Expertise: Requires trained/experienced professionals for optimal results.
  • Exposure Duration: Depending on which form of Traspir metal installed recommended exposure to weather conditions are 2 (3D Coat TT) or 4 weeks (3D Net); prolonged exposure beyond this period may affect performance.
  • Reaction to Fire: When a fire-retardant roofing underlay is necessary, Traspir Metal must be paired with a compatible Rothoblaas fire-rated membrane, following prior consultation with Rothoblaas.
