UV Resistant Building Underlays Accommodate Construction Delays

Air and water holdout performance characteristics of building underlays and flashing tapes per NZS 2295 can be compromised if UV exposure rates are exceeded during the build process. Council inspectors have recently become extra vigilant of this performance requirement and may require re-wrapping the building to ensure long term weathertightness. This inconvenience can cause production delays and project cost over–runs.

DuPont Tyvek Wall and Roof Underlays, together with DuPont Window and Door Flashing Tapes are not only UV resistant, they are also CodeMark certified to ensure compliance with NZBC E2/AS1. These DuPont products belong to the compatible, DuPont Tyvek building envelope system. This system is supported in New Zealand by DuPont, a 200 year old company.

Benefits of DuPont Tyvek Building Underlays include:

  • UV resistant for up to 120 days to allow plenty of time for cladding to be installed
  • Fire Retardant per AS 1530 Part 2
  • High Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate per ASTM E-96 which helps moisture escape in a vapour state and helps reduce condensation build up in roof and wall assemblies
  • Suitable in NZS 3604 building wind zones up to and including extra high for DuPont Tyvek Supro Building Wrap
