The Alter Collection Combines Timber Texture with Porcelain Resilience

The art of translating natural elements onto porcelain stoneware, and the perfection of this, has undoubtedly been the primary focus of tile manufacturers over the past decade or so. The quality of high definition printing and the replication of natural textures has become so well mastered it can be quite difficult distinguishing natural stone, marble or wood from the porcelain copy.

Having succeeded in realistic replication that also extended to textiles and metals, the industry then began to really play with the shape and size of porcelain stoneware, increasingly available in larger and more diverse formats.

Now the next wave of creative design in the industry has arrived…the hybrid product.

Just landed at The Tile Depot, the Alter porcelain plank collection is a unique design that hybridises wood and stone to create a really eye-catching range.

Designed and made in Italy, the Alter aesthetic gives the appearance of an ancient oak that has grown around stone for millenia, resulting in a seamless merging of the two. The effect is a predominantly woodgrain porcelain plank that reveals an ancient history and unique bonding to stone. In reality, it was constructed from cross-cut wood submerged in resin and translated into porcelain planks using high definition printing technology. The result is definitely something very special and unique, perfect for those seeking something a little less ordinary.

With a velvety smooth tactile surface, yet all the resistance and anti-slip properties needed for use in any residential and commercial context, the Alter collection of Italian porcelain stoneware is a hardwearing, versatile and excitingly dynamic range.

Available in four warm colourways from a striking dark chocolate oak to softer caramel tones and light scandinavian style shades, Alter has a warm natural charm that adapts well to contemporary style.

Available in 200 x 1200mm format and suitable for both floors and walls throughout residential and light commercial interiors.
