NASH Publishes Industry Standard For Residential and Low Rise Steel Framing

To assist designers and specifiers the National Association of Steel Framed Housing (NASH) has produced a number of publications to assist industry professionals.

NASH has published an industry standard for residential and low rise steel framing, which is the first to be cited in NZ.

The NASH standard for residential and low-rise steel framing part 1: design criteria version 2: October 2010 sets out how to comply with the performance criteria of the New Zealand Building Code for clause B1 for steel framing of low-rise buildings, including houses and low-rise commercial buildings.

The NASH standard aligns with the AS/NZS 1170 suite of standards, includes specific design actions and serviceability criteria for steel-framed buildings, addresses tolerances for manufacture and installation, and provides information for the self weights of materials. Roof, wall, floor, bracing and connections are also covered in detail.

Copies of the standard and other publications can be obtained by visiting the NASH website.
