The extended soffits in the Villa Thomas Project by Salt Construction were lined with Plymasters BS1088 Marine Gaboon. Soffits are important for providing ventilation and protection from the elements. By extending the soffits, Salt Construction created a sheltered outdoor space. The Gaboon Plywood lines the internal ceiling of the house and carries onto the external soffits, resulting in a harmonious indoor-outdoor flow.

A covered outdoor area seamlessly extends the living space of the house, allowing for kids to play and outdoor dining while having protection from the elements. Protecting from not only rain but wind and strong UV rays.

The warm colour of Gaboon creates an inviting environment while the beautiful grain pattern adds texture and visual interest to the design. BS1088 Marine Gaboon is an attractive, reddish-pink colour with a consistent grain. The high-quality veneer face makes it a reliable choice for feature linings. Made from high grade veneers, this hardwood ply has very few voids which adds to its water resistance and strength.

Plymasters’ BS1088 Marine Gaboon Plywood is bonded with waterproof glue making it resistant to rot and delamination. Manufactured to the British Standard BS1088, Plymasters Gaboon Plywood’s resistant to rot, fungal growth and moisture damage makes it suitable from long term use in environments exposed to moisture like soffits.

Salt Construction used timber cladding and plywood throughout the Villa Thomas Project to tie the home in with its scenic location. Making an outdoor space that is warm and inviting while melding with its surroundings.
