Creating Inspirational, Multi-Purpose Rooftop Decks

Functionality and aesthetics were key for this stunning 183m² rooftop terrace designed by award-winning architects Gray Puksand and installed by SBP Group.

Construction was made challenging by the limited space. The 30m high rooftop meant lightweight, prefabricated-materials with minimal waste were preferable for the crane lifts.

Gray Puksand has specified NZ founded company Outdure's exterior flooring products successfully on previous projects as their structural system allows for design flexibility, including multi-surface integration on a level plane over a variety of deck heights. Outdure collaborated on the design and provided construction drawings and technical support for SBP.

For the shared commercial space, staff enjoy a mixture of timber and stone finishes softened with the custom-made planter boxes and synthetic grassed area.

QwickBuild is an external flooring system that provides strong, durable, stable structures to support hardwood and composite decking boards, exterior tiles, and synthetic turf, or a combination of surfaces.

QwickBuild is designed for installations over natural ground, concrete pads, existing pavers and waterproof membranes. The system allows for the construction of support structures ranging from ultra-low height through to structures 3m+.

Benefits for deck structures under 400mm in height, especially areas where deck structures are built over a waterproof membrane, this includes rooftop spaces and apartment balconies. The system has low height capabilities enabling a flush internal and external floor levels that are of complex integrating surfaces.
