Design with Confidence: Nine Caesarstone Crystalline Silica Free Colours Now Have EPD

Sustainable design is no longer optional, and neither is the health and safety of those who work with building materials. Laminex is proud to announce that nine of their Caesarstone Crystalline Silica Free surfaces now have an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), giving you verified, transparent data to support your specifications while also eliminating crystalline silica exposure in fabrication.

Laminex is proud to offer 16 out of 22 decors in Crystalline Silica Free, with the rest available in Low Silica formulation; and all except Empira White will transition to Crystalline Silica Free by the end of this year*. The EPD for Caesarstone Crystalline Silica Free provides third-party verified life cycle data for these surfaces, enabling confident, transparent specification.

By combining EPD certification with next-generation Crystalline Silica Free technology, these nine decors deliver a dual advantage:

Verified sustainability and project alignment: Access trusted life cycle assessment data covering carbon footprint, water use, and end-of-life impacts. Support Green Star certification by preparing documentation aligned with New Zealand market requirements, contributing to targeted credits across relevant categories.
Health-conscious specification: Support safer fabrication for fabricators with surfaces engineered without crystalline silica.

Caesarstone surfaces are non-porous, waterproof, mould and mildew resistant — suitable for kitchen benchtops and splashbacks as well as bathroom vanities and wall linings
Caesarstone is compliant with the International Health and Safety Foundation sanitary standard, ensuring that its working surfaces are safe for use in all food environments

When fabricated and installed by a certified Caesarstone fabricator, Caesarstone will meet the following provisions of the NZBC:

Clause B2 Durability: Will remain fit for purpose for 10 years
Clause C3 Fire effecting areas beyond fire source: Has material group number of 3 when tested to ISO 5660
Clause E3 Internal Moisture (E3.3.4 and E3.3.5): Surfaces are impervious to moisture and are easily cleaned
Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials: No harmful materials are emitted from product
Clause G3 (G 3.3.2(a)) Food preparation and prevention of contamination: Surfaces are impervious and are easily cleaned
