Established in 1922, Jenkin has a long history of providing reliable timber products nationwide. As of 2016, Jenkin was acquired by Claymark who are dedicated to providing the same high quality product and dependability expected from the A-lign brand.

In fact, as NZ’s largest manufacturer and exporter of premium pine products, Claymark intends to invest in further development of the A-lign range. “What is great with Claymark coming on board is it gives us the ability to have more investment and development, along with continuity of what has already been done as a trusted product,” explains Bruce Barclay, Sales and Marketing Manager, Claymark.

Claymark now proudly supplies the Jenkin timber range nationwide. Best known is the A-lign precision-cut radiata pine weatherboard system, a complete system that simplifies the design process for architects, while offering ease of use and speed of installation for builders. The full Jenkin timber range also includes A-lign fencing, A-lign balustrades and Tru-Pine Pergolas, as well as the recently launched A-lign Vertical Weatherboard — a vertical weatherboard cladding system that provides a different architectural look from traditional horizontal weatherboards.

Claymark also brings the benefit of owning their own sawmills, meaning they can closely control the fibre that goes into A-lign even better than before. This gives architects and designers peace of mind that they are using the highest quality radiata pine timber.

In addition to Jenkin A-lign products, Claymark offers a range of high-quality timber solutions, including laminated beams, boards and posts for structural design, exterior decking, clear boards, mouldings for interior trim and other weatherboard options.

A-lign is a precision-cut timber weatherboard cladding solution that is designed to help builders install solid timber weatherboard cladding to the highest traditional craft standards, quickly and easily.

The A-lign Bevelback Weatherboard Direct Fix Cavity Solution has been appraised as an external horizontally fixed wall cladding solution for buildings within the following scope:

the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1; and,
construction with timber framing complying with NZBC; and,
with a risk score of 0-12, calculated in accordance with the Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Table 2; and,
situated in NZS 3604 Building Wind Zones up to, and including 'Very High'.

The Jenkin A-Lign Beveback Weatherboard Direct Fix Cavity Solution is appraised for use with aluminium window and door joinery that is installed with vertical jambs and horizontal heads and sills. (The Appraisal of the A-Lign Bevelback Weatherboard Direct Fix Cavity Fix Solution relies on the joinery meeting the requirements of NZS 4211 for the relevant Building Wind Zone or wind pressure.)

A-lign is suited to both direct and cavity type construction.

Very High WInd Zone

In the opinion of BRANZ , the A-lign Bevelback Weatherboard Direct Fix Cavity Solution, if designed, and used, installed and maintained in accordance with with the statements and conditions of Appraisal No.536 (2007), will meet the following provisions of the NZBC:

Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2 and B1.3.4. The A-lign Bevelback Weatherboard Direct Fix Cavity Solution meets the requirement for loads arising from self-weight, wind, impact and creep [i.e. B1.3.3 (a), (h), (j) and (q)].
Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1(b), 15 years, B2.3.1(c), 5 years and B2.3.1. The A-lign Bevelback Weatherboard Concealed Fix Cavity Solution meets these requirements.
Clause E2 EXTERNAL MOISTURE: Performance E2.3.2 The A-lign Bevelback Weatherboard Direct Fix Cavity Solution meets this requirement.
Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.2. The A-lign Bevelback Weatherboard Direct Fix Cavity Solution meets this requirement and will not present a hazard to people.

The A-lign Bevelback Weatherboard Direct Fix Cavity Solution has been appraised as an Alternative Solution in terms of New Zealand Building Code compliance.

With a risk score of 0-20, calculated in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Table 2; and,
Situated in NZS 3604 Wind Zones up to, and including 'Extra High'.

Extra High Wind Zone

In the opinion of BRANZ A-lign Vertical Shiplap Weatherboard Cavity Solution, if designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements of Appraisal 929 (2017), will meet the following provisions of NZBC:

Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2 and B1.3.4. The A-lign Vertical Shiplap Weatherboard Cavity Solution meets the requirement for loads arising from self-weight, wind and impact (i.e. B1.3.3 [a], [h] and [j])
Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1 (b), 15 years and B2.3.2. The A-lign Vertical Shiplap Weatherboard Cavity Solution meets these requirements
