Australian Architecture: Universal Principles
Australia climatic extremes make it a frontline for architectural endeavours. Based on an exhibition in Tokyo, this film traverses Australia’s extreme geological and ecological landscapes, while posing the question of how humanity can develop architecture that is environmentally responsible, resource friendly and sympathetic to context.
Curated by leading Australian architect Wendy Lewin and Associate Professor of Architecture at Monash University Maryam Gusheh, the exhibition and film look at 12 Australian architectural projects and address the most fundamental and urgent question - how can we support occupation and development in ways that are responsive and responsible, ‘congruent’ and supportive of nature, context and resources?
