Ceramic Tiles Offer a Sustainable Flooring Option

The growing problem of plastic pollution is gaining more and more attention in the media, and for good reason. As part of the building industry, both suppliers and consumers have a part to play in building sustainable housing and buildings with ethically-derived products.

Sourcing such product is not always easily done, but one safe and sustainable option is ceramic tile. Tiles are manufactured using natural materials. They are also biodegradable; in landfill, they revert to their natural form (clay). They are not made with nor do they emit toxic chemicals known as VOC's (Volatile Organic Chemicals) or toxic fumes in the event of a fire.

An increasing number of specifiers today are looking at natural choices for finishings. Sustainability-speaking, tile is an ideal choice for reducing negative environmental impacts, resource use and demolition waste. A properly installed ceramic tile floor is long-lasting and offers high performance.
