Escea Rooftop fireplace in Telecom building

Telecom Central in Wellington is a state of the art office and retail space which was awarded a 5 Green Star rating due to its environmentally friendly design and performance. As the headquarters of Telecom New Zealand the building is around 19,000 square metres and houses around 1700 employees.

The building was built using a thermally active exterior and tactile office interior with the future of their staff and growth in mind. The roof top is easily accessible for all employees and is also partly sheltered from the well known Wellington winds. This is where an outdoor gas fireplace surrounded by chairs and colourful furniture can be found which only confirms how moving flames make a conversation so much better.

An Escea EF5000 Outdoor Gas Fireplace featuring a Stainless Steel fascia and New Zealand River Rock fuel bed was chosen to be the focal point of this stunning outdoor area on the roof. This fireplace is designed for quick convenient heat at the push of a button so it is perfect for Telecom staff to run it during lunch break or informal meetings to stay warm on a colder day.

"The Wellington Company" was contracted to develop the building and used Architecture + to do the base design whilst the fit out was planned by Warren & Mahoney. The addition of a fireplace was initiated by Telecom staff and the fire is conveniently placed on wheels so it can be moved around to deferent parts of the roof area.

Such fireplaces like the Escea EF5000 can be easily used in both residential and commercial buildings. Their innovative design means no flue is required, making installation simple. Because this Escea gas fireplace is zero rated, it can be installed straight into any timber framed external construction, suitable wall or masonry cavity.

Various fascias and fuel beds are available to make this modern outdoor fireplace match your outdoor space.  Learn more.
