225mm Rainwater Outlets Designed to Manage Heavy Deluges on Membrane Roofs

As climatic conditions change it is important to manage rainwater flow effectively to prevent damage to buildings and keep occupants safe and dry. Metabronze’s roof rainwater outlets manage high water flow rates to ensure the long-lasting performance of membrane roofs.

Applications

Metabronze rainwater outlets are designed to be integrated into flat and low slope membrane roofs, terraces, balconies and carparks, where they effectively manage rainwater to prevent pooling of water and damage to the structure.

The outlets are compatible with EPDM, TPO, and butynol membrane surfaces, as well as cement and asphalt toppings, ensuring flexibility for a wide range of projects.

Key performance benefits

225mm option — the largest out-of-the-box rainwater outlet in NZ

Metabronze rainwater outlets are available in a broad range of sizes to suit different project requirements. This includes their 225mm outlet from the Superflo range — the largest available in New Zealand.

Including a 225mm outlet as an out-of-the-box solution gives designers a smart option for protecting large membrane roofs from severe weather events such as prolonged rainfall or flash flooding, with no need to turn to custom outlets.

High flow rates backed by independent testing

The rainwater outlets are engineered to manage high volumes of water quickly, even during heavy rainfall. They have been independently flow rate tested, demonstrating high flow rate performance, with results available on the Metabronze website. This gives designers peace of mind that the outlets can clear water quickly and prevent damage to buildings.

Robust and compliant with E1 and E2

Metabronze rainwater outlets are designed and manufactured to meet the requirements of Clause E1 Surface Water and E2 External Moisture of the NZBC.

The outlets are made from durable, corrosion-resistant materials including stainless steel, mid-carbon steel, bronze, cast iron, and aluminium, ensuring longterm performance in all weather conditions. The Superflo range of grates provides even further durability, featuring a hot dip galvanised stainless steel grate that is load tested to class D.

Design support

Metabronze’s dedicated technical manager is available to assist architects and designers with technical support, samples and flowrate analysis to help them determine the right rainwater outlet design for their projects.

History of Use

Metabronze rainwater outlets have a proven history of use in commercial and residential projects, including apartment developments, office buildings, airports and shopping malls.

Most recently, the 225mm Superflo outlet has been specified for Auckland Airport’s Western Terminal Development to ensure efficient rainwater management even during severe weather events.

Environmental performance

Metabronze outlets are made from materials that can be reused or recycled at end of life, supporting the principles of a circular economy

Warranty and maintenance

Metabronze rainwater outlets are covered by a ten-year warranty against defective components, a five-year warranty for any faulty workmanship by the manufacturer, and a one-year warranty for surface coating failures
