Pre-primed for site efficiency

Shadowclad Ultra is a powder-coated, pre-primed version of the Shadowclad plywood cladding system. It arrives on site ready to install, eliminating the need for on-site priming — a step that can otherwise slow down workflow and add labour requirements during the coating stage.

The pre-applied Climate Surfaces Ultra Shield coating is a high-performance powder primer, specifically formulated for Shadowclad panels. It offers several advantages over traditional wet-priming methods:

• Reduced on-site preparation time
• Lower labour inputs related to coating application
• Improved protection from moisture before final coatings
• A consistent surface for paints or selected film-forming stains

The coating is applied in a controlled factory environment and can be up to 2–3 times thicker than standard wet primers, offering robust initial coverage and a uniform base for finishing.

Well suited to New Zealand’s residential builds

Shadowclad panels are manufactured from sustainably-grown plantation resource and meet the NZ Building Code when installed as per the Shadowclad Specification and Installation Guides. Panels feature a band-sawn face for a compelling tactile finish, and shiplap vertical joints for weathertight performance.

Treatment options include H3.1 LOSP or H3.2 CCA, making the panels suitable for a range of exterior applications. Shadowclad Ultra is also available as Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified (FSC C012019) upon request and is classified as E0 for formaldehyde emission.

A full suite of purpose-designed and tested flashings complements the system, ensuring continuity across junctions and door and window framing.
