StoArmour Facade Panel System

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) has evolved into an innovative lightweight concrete building material used worldwide in various construction systems. The StoArmour facade panel, manufactured in Australia, embodies the latest in AAC technology with corrosion-resistant ductile steel reinforcing, delivering a durable facade panel from a dependable supplier.;

StoArmour Panels are available 50mm thick x 2200mm long x 600 mm wide, or 75 mm thick x 2200 mm long x 600 mm wide. They are installed horizontally over a 20 or 40 mm deep ventilated drainage cavity.

The StoArmour facade panel system finished in the StoArmat Miral render system has passed a series of stringent compliance tests for commercial and residential construction, providing a superior weathertight and fire-resistant facade system with good sound insulation properties and impact resistance.

Scope of Use

The StoArmour Facade Panel Cladding System has been appraised as an external wall cladding system for buildings within the following scope:

  • For residential and light commercial type buildings where domestic construction techniques are used. 
  • The scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1
  • Constructed with timber or steel framing complying with the NZBC.
  • With a risk score of 0-20, calculated in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Table 2

The StoArmour Facade Panel System has also been appraised for weathertightness and structural wind loading within the following scope;

  • The scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1
  • Constructed with timber and steel framing complying with the NZBC
  • Including wind pressures up to a maximum design differential ultimate limit state (ULS) of 2.5 kPa

StoArmour Panel is suitable for both residential and commercial buildings. For use with aluminium window and door joinery that is installed with vertical jambs and horizontal heads and sills.

Statement of Building Code Compliance

The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:

  • Clause B1 Structure: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2, B1.3.3, B1.3.4
  • Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(b), B2.3.1(c), B2.3.2
  • Clause E2 External moisture: Performance E2.3.2
  • Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1

Note: The StoArmour Facade Panel System meets the performance requirements of NZBC Clause B2.3.1 (b), 15 years for the cladding system and plaster finish, and the performance requirements of NZBC Clause B2.3.1 (c), 5 years for the exterior paint system.

The StoArmour Facade Panel System is expected to have a serviceable life of at least 30 years provided the system is maintained in accordance with this Appraisal, and the StoArmour panels, fixings and plaster are continuously protected by a weathertight coating and remain dry in service.
