The glass type, thickness, print coverage, opacity and processing should be selected to suit the required appearance, safety classification, structural loads, lighting conditions and environmental exposure.

• Final colour and appearance can be affected by the glass type, glass thickness, print surface, ink coverage, lighting and background material.
• A physical sample or project-specific prototype should be approved before full production where colour accuracy or visual matching is critical.
• Digital artwork must meet Metro’s current resolution, scale, colour-profile and file-format requirements.
• Colour reproduction on glass may differ from colours viewed on a screen or printed on paper.
• Transparent, translucent and partially printed designs do not provide complete privacy.
• Print opacity and appearance can change between transmitted and reflected light.
• Safety glass must be selected where required for human impact or other applicable risks.
• External applications require assessment of the complete glazing system, including edge cover, fixings, framing, drainage and building movement.
• The ceramic print must not be treated as a structural coating or weatherproofing layer.
• Installation must follow Metro’s requirements, approved project documentation and the current New Zealand Building Code.

When correctly selected, designed, manufactured and installed, Metro Digitally Printed Glass complies with or can contribute to compliance with relevant provisions of the New Zealand Building Code, including:

• E2 External Moisture, when used as part of a complete external glazing system

• F4 Safety from Falling, where incorporated into a specifically designed and compliant barrier system

Compliance must be assessed for the complete installed system, including the glass, print coverage, fixings, framing, seals, supporting structure and building interfaces.

• Ceramic inks are fused to the glass during thermal processing to create a durable printed surface.
• Print coverage can be tailored to provide decoration, privacy, glare reduction or shading.
• The visual and solar performance of the glass depends on the colour, pattern, density and percentage of print coverage.
• Toughened safety-glass options are manufactured in accordance with AS/NZS 2208.
• Glass selection and installation are undertaken with reference to NZS 4223.
• Digital print can be applied to a range of glass thicknesses and configurations, subject to Metro’s processing capabilities.
• Metro EzyClean can be applied to selected digital ceramic print surfaces and has demonstrated adhesion and durability equivalent to coated plain glass in Metro’s published information.

Warranty & Maintenance

• Warranty coverage is subject to Metro’s applicable digitally printed glass and processed glass warranty terms.
• Refer to the attached Metro Performance Glass warranty documentation for coverage, exclusions and claim requirements.
• Maintain in accordance with the attached Metro Performance Glass glass-care and maintenance guide.
• Clean using non abrasive glass-cleaning products and soft, clean cloths.
• Do not use metal scrapers, abrasive pads or harsh chemicals on printed surfaces.
• Protect exposed edges and printed surfaces from contact with incompatible sealants, adhesives and cleaning products.
• Do not cut, drill or modify thermally processed glass after manufacture.
• EzyClean coated surfaces must be maintained in accordance with the separate EzyClean care instructions.
