Mammoth airlay insulation is made in New Zealand from lofted, thermally bonded polyester fibres. It's unique properties arise from the manufacturing process, whereby the fibres are completely randomised rather than the traditional layering.
This provides for differing structural properties of the product, enabling it to support itself within a cavity by simply squeezing the section in place. This seamless fit supports higher thermal performance across the system by retaining nominal thickness and a smooth, seamless finish (without tucks, gaps or creases).
Mammoth airlay, thermal insulation which is suitable for underfloors, walls and ceilings (skillion roof) and is friction fitted between joists/dwangs to create a smooth, seamless fit.
In the opinion of BRANZ, Mammoth Insulation if designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions of this Appraisal, will meet or contribute to meeting the following provisions of the NZBC:
B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1 (a) not less than 50 years and B2.3.1 (b) 15 years. Mammoth insulation will meet this requirement. See Paragraph 8.1
E3 Internal Moisture: Performance E.3.3.1. Mammoth insulation will contribute to meeting this requirement. See Paragraphs 13.1 and 13.2
F2 Hazardous Building Materials: Performance F2.3.1. Mammoth insulation meets this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people.
H1 Energy Efficiency: Performance H1.3.1 (a) and H1.3.2 E. Mammoth insulation will contribute to meeting these requirements. See Paragraphs 14.1 and 14.2.
Non-toxic and Non-irritant: OSH Health and Safety Guidelines for the Selection and Safe Handling of Synthetic Mineral Fibres. Department of Labour, 1194, P18.
Fire Test:
VOC Emission Test: Total VOC < 0.005mg/m3 (level below detection) and Formaldehyde < 0.009mg/m3 (level below detection)
Non Corrosive: AS/NZS4859.1 (Polyester has alkalinity of PH7.8
Vermin Resistant: not a food source for vermin (and not treated).
