Mechanical Extraction Ventilation — Xtract by Unovent
Description

Xtract by Unovent provides targeted ventilation for wet areas. Extraction fans are required in any wet area space such as bathrooms and ensuites. Xtract extraction fans can extract from a single room or two rooms.

Xtract products can be used in any residential premises or light commercial where extraction ventilation is required.

Scope of Use
  • To be used in any residential dwelling that requires wet area extraction to meet compliance standards
  • Suits roof, soffits or external wall installations

Limitations on Use
  • Extraction fans should have a ducting length of no more than 6m. Hometech can provide other solutions and recommendatios for +6m distances
  • The two room systems, VS3003 and VS3002, can only be used when the rooms are no more than 6m apart

Performance exceeds building code (AS 1688.2) — Performance based on 3m duct length

  • Single room (VS3004): 162m3/h or 45 l/s
  • Two room extraction with single fan (VS3003): 338m3/h* or 94 l/s (*combined m3/h from the two vents)
  • Two room extraction with dual fans (VS3002): 270m3/h* or 75 l/s (*combined m3/h from the two vents)

Extraction Systems complies with New Zealand Standards as follows:

  • AS/NZS 6300-1992 Approval and test specification — General requirements for household and similar electrical appliances
  • AS/NZS 603335.2.80:2016 Household and similar electrical appliances — Safety — Part 2.80: Particular requirements for fans
  • NZS 4303-1900:6.1.3 Ventilation for acceptable indoor air quality
In-Service History

Hometech mechanical extract ventilation systems have been used since 1998. The VS3004 has been used by Kāinga Ora (previously known as Housing New Zealand) since the early 2000's.
