Metro Series ThermalHEART Awning & Casement Windows
APL Specifier Guide available Order now
Description

The window frame has a large 44mm platform to ensure strength and suitability in exposed environments. A facing sash is used as standard. Mullions and transoms have internally projecting stiffening boxes for improved aesthetics.

Designed to be used in conjunction with double glazing for total thermal efficiency, windows can accept IGUs of up to 32mm thickness, thus allowing for interior pleated or Venetian blinds.

Key Features
  • A thermally efficient range of high performance windows and doors for residential and architectural applications
  • Thermal efficiency achieved through a thermal break in aluminium profiles
  • Designed to be used in conjunction with double glazing for a fully effective barrier system (32mm maximum IGU)
  • Ideal for those projects where conformity with the energy efficiency requirements of NZ Building Code Clause H1 is a design difficulty issue
  • Awnings and casements have facing sashes as standard
  • High performance mullions/transoms have internal boxes
  • Corner or faceted windows available
Scope of Use
  • Awning windows provide versatile ventilation with a good degree of weather protection
  • Casements can direct breezes inside and have a traditional aesthetic
  • Need to be used in defined maximum sizes according to the wind exposure
Limitations on Use
  • Care needed if projecting on to walkways and decks. Restrictor stays can limit opening in such situations
  • Restrictors will be needed to conform to NZBC F4 'Safety from falling' if windows open on to a drop of 1m or more
  • Consider a Metro ThermalHEART horizontal sliding window to protect walkways
  • Caution is required for the use of casements which open directly into prevailing winds
  • Casements beyond benches may have top fasteners that are hard to reach
Statement of Building Code Compliance
  • Designed, tested and manufactured to meet NZS 4211: Performance of Windows, and NZS 4233:  Glazing in Buildings, Parts 1-4
  • Designed and tested to conform to NZ Building Code, including Clause E2
In-Service History
