In this Neoclassic-inspired Orewa kitchen, every element is considered, including what is often overlooked. Waste and recycling are seamlessly integrated through the Concelo bin system by Hideaway Bins, proving that high-performance functionality can sit comfortably within a richly detailed architectural interior.

Kitchen designer Toni Roberts is known for her exacting approach to both form and function, and when it comes to waste solutions, the Concelo range is her go-to. In this kitchen, the Concelo CR220D-W with 2 × 20L buckets is discreetly positioned beside the integrated table-bar, ensuring it is easily accessible to both the home chef and family without interrupting the visual rhythm of the space.

This thoughtful placement allows the bin to work quietly in the background, supporting daily rituals while maintaining the integrity of the design. It sits comfortably among blue-sky quartzite surfaces, soft curves and Neoclassical detailing, where deep shadows and reflected light are carefully choreographed.

The bin is not hidden away as an afterthought but deliberately incorporated as part of the kitchen’s functional architecture.

By integrating the Concelo bin system at the heart of the kitchen, this project demonstrates how essential utilities can be resolved with the same level of care as materials and detailing. It’s a reminder that truly successful kitchens balance beauty with performance — right down to the bin.
