3M Safety Window Film
Description

Protect tenants and property even on a budget. This basic safety and security film is useful as an increased measure of protection against low force impact situations, general glass fragment retention, spontaneous glass breakage, seismic events, and limited safety glazing situations. These clear, single-layer polyester films rely on thickness to provide additional security benefits. While they do not offer the tear resistance of the Scotchshield Ultra Safety and Security Films, they do help provide additional safety and security.

Key Features
  • These 100-350 micron(4 to 14 mil) polyester films utilise conventional film grade polyester
  • Minimises injury to people and protects property from a range of safety concerns, including glass hazards, natural disasters, seismic events and spontaneous breakage
  • Increases security and provides added protection from smash and grab instances
  • Significantly blocks the amount of harmful UV rays that cause fading, helping to extend the life of furnishings
  • Increases anti-spall protection for laminated glass
  • Combine with 3M Sun Control Films to enjoy enhanced safety, and the benefits of a sun control film, or combine with 3M™ Impact Protection Attachment Systems for extra safety and security
Scope of Use
  • Basic safety and security film
  • Recommended for interior use
  • Suitable for residential and commercial applications
Limitations on Use
  • For low force impact situations only
  • Some applications may require the film to be used in conjunction with a 3M Impact Protection Attachment System
Statement of Building Code Compliance

In many cases where glazing requires an upgrade to safety glass, 3M Safety Films can be applied to bring it in line with AS/NZS 2208. In these cases, the application of 3M Safety Film means that the actual glass need not be replaced.

  • When Safety S70 or Safety S40 is applied to 3mm, 4mm or 6mm annealed glass, the film meets the Grade A impact requirements of AS/NZS 2208:1996
Other Performance Attributes

BRANZ Impact Testing was conducted on 4mm annealed glass with a single layer of 100 micron polyester film with an abrasion resistant coating. This applies to the Safety S40 Film which is constructed from 100 micron polyester with an abrasion resistant coating.
