The Ava Lodge is a modern motel situated in Petone, Lower Hutt. Unex Systems' Safa-Slat Balustrade has been installed on all the decks, as an impressive, low-maintenance privacy solution.

Originally the lodge intended to use a timber horizontal slat infill, however for its low maintenance and ability to provide privacy and conceal the large deck overhang, the Safa-Slat Aluminium Balustrade was chosen as an ideal and compliant solution.

The Safa-Slat Balustrade has an aluminium frame with closely spaced horizontal infill slats, which provide privacy for clients staying at the lodge. The aluminium is a low maintenance material, providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance for many years.

Unex Systems worked closely with the authorised fabricator Alchemy Engineering, to engineer a site-specific solution and ensure the design met their custom requirements. In order to conceal the fascia and large deck overhang, the Safa-Slat infill protrudes past the floor level to the bottom of the posts. The concealed fixed post was also used to hide the substrate fixings for aesthetic purposes.

The end result is an impressive display of the balustrade expertise that the Unex Systems team is able to offer. Blending their experience with balustrades, design flair and engineering expertise, they have produced a compliant privacy solution, which enhances the functional and visual appeal of Ava Lodge.
