3M Daylight Redirecting Film
Description

3M™ Daylight Redirecting Film is designed to redirect sunlight from windows deeper into buildings to increase natural light. The film moves excess light close to the window and redirects it deeper into the building to increase the daylight penetration. Bringing in more natural light helps provide many benefits for occupants, as it reduces the need for artificial lighting, which helps save energy.

Key Features
  • Reduces glare and discomfort caused by direct sunlight on occupants
  • Made of micro-structured prisms, the film optically redirects over 80% of daylight upwards and diffuses it for even distribution
  • Redirects natural light as much as 12m into the building
  • Extends daylight zone to 2.4m into the interior for every 300mm of treated window
  • Can provide up to 52% lighting energy savings compared to baseline usage

Compared to existing light reflecting strategies, 3M Daylight Redirecting Film is easily integrated into new or existing windows. It requires no extra hardware or infrastructure, and little to no additional maintenance or special cleaning. It works at all times of the day, even when the sun is at a low angle. It's also more cost effective than many existing daylighting solutions.

Scope of Use
  • Film is installed in the upper portion of the window
Limitations on Use
  • Suitable for Commercial use
