Tredaire King Carpet Underlay is a luxury carpet underlay that is 8.3mm in thickness and made of sponge rubber, with a very low tog rating of 0.80 tog.
Due to the significantly low tog rating, the underlay helps conduct heat from the underfloor heating system onto the homeowners' feet. This ensures the underfloor heating system works more efficiently.
Superquilt recommends the use of either Duralay Heatflow Carpet, Wood and Laminate underlay or Tredaire King underlay with underfloor heating. Alternative thermal underlays may have high tog values which can hold the heat in, resulting in a less efficient underfloor heating system.
Another benefit of Tredaire King is that it has an impact sound insulation rating of 42 db, providing a high performing acoustic sound barrier.
When sound impact energy is transmitted into the floor structure, it is then transmitted as sound energy into adjacent rooms, particularly the rooms below. The structure of the floor determines to what degree this effects and can interfere with neighbours. By specifying Tredaire King Carpet Underlay, designers can significantly reduce that sound transfer at the same time as optimising the thermal performance of underfloor heating.
