The well established V grooved V10 MDF wall and ceiling panels are joined by three new options:
- Plankwall V15: A linear grooved profile with V grooves at 15cm centres
- Plankwall W08: A linear grooved profile with W grooves at 8cm centres
- Plankwall PF: A plain faced option with no grooves
The panels are all made of MDF — a material that has three times the impact resistance of plasterboard, is not brittle like fibre cement, and has excellent bracing and thermal qualities. All options have a tongue and grooved edge and are available in both 9mm or 12mm panels.
The panels can be supplied as naturally raw MDF, with no coating. Or in Almost Finished — a pre-coated option featuring two coats of a white, factory-applied epoxy acrylic UV on the front face (colour match: Dulux Matt Tui Tuft 915 1266M), and a clear UV coat on the back.
Whether considered a finished or primed surface, Almost Finished will save site labour and reduce project times. The epoxy acrylic UV coats on Almost Finished panels protect the building from moisture, mould and atmospheric changes created when painting on-site. This option is suitable for interior walls and ceilings, as well as external areas which are weather protected such as carports.
For well-lit spaces, Plankwall recommends giving Almost Finished panels a final coat of paint. Generally, it is sufficient to coat the flat surfaces with a roller, not the grooves.
For high ceilings where lighting may be subdued, a further coat might not be needed — just a careful wipe of a filler, to mask the pinholes of the brads.
