New Wood Flooring Adhesive Provides Tested Acoustic Performance

One of the major challenges for wood flooring installations is the application of multiple products with specific individual features over the same subfloor area. The project specifications often require separate application of wood floor adhesive combined with other products: a moisture barrier, sound reducers, or adhesive ability to enable dimensional movements of solid or engineered wood flooring.

A new four-in-one solution

PAVEEZZI NZ introduces Acouslime 4in1 — a time and cost-effective product that resolves these challenges by combining different specification requirements into one, easy-to-apply product with strong performance features.

Acouslime 4in1 is an acoustic moisture barrier, and high elastic strength wood-flooring adhesive formulated for use in residential and commercial building projects. It provides a moisture barrier, sound barrier and stabiliser in a one-step process.

It enables wet lay, with an open time of 40 minutes for easier and faster application over larger surface areas. Acouslime 4in1 has a strong grab feature, is freeze and thaw stable, has a high solid content and bridges the natural wood product cracks and eliminates hollow spots. Acouslime 4in1 is also suitable for radiant heat systems without primer.

Acouslime 4in1 is intended for various subfloors surfaces: concrete slabs, chipboards on cement screeds, ceramic, stone and marble tiles or slabs, underlayment graded OSB and plywood, cured levelling compounds, and radiant heated subfloors.

Tested for acoustic performance

In-field acoustic tests performed in a multi-storey apartment building in Melbourne, Australia, compared the performance of Acouslime 4in1 against a 5mm-thick sound-reducing impact mat. The 15mm thick Oak engineered timber sample was stuck down using a 6mm V-notch trowel and Acouslime 4in1 flooring adhesive, over a 200mm thick concrete slab with one layer of 13mm standard plasterboard suspended from the slab soffit, to form a 250mm ceiling cavity. The results show that Acouslime 4in1 performance matches the sound-reducing mat with a 2-4 decibel difference, considering the environmental and building flanking noise.

Safe and user-friendly

Acouslime 4in1 contains no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), water, nor solvents. It is not flammable, doesn’t contain isocyanides and doesn’t represent dangerous goods transport and use classification.

Acouslime 4in1 is available in 16kg plastic buckets or 600gr gun sausages.
