NZ Foam: An Efficient Choice for Repurposing Old Sheds

For 40 years, spray polyurethane foam has been one of the preferred insulation options for shed projects nationwide and globally. Foam’s rediscovery and redevelopment came out of Director Chris Haughey’s frustration and dogged determination to find a solution for inefficient buildings — without the shortfalls of other products.

“With climate change causing erratic weather, it’s wise to upgrade when planning for the future. Foam evenly retains inside temperature, elevating the stress on the cooling unit, resulting in operating cost reduction, and a better working environment," he says.

Along with Rob Leach and his crew, based out of the Canterbury headquarters and Wellington hub, NZ Foam service from Cape Reinga to Bluff.

“We happy to help with design aspects alongside builders and architects for renovations and new builds,” Chris says. “Wherever you are, we are. We work to client’s schedules, and if we have to move mountains, we will.”

Crichel Downs Potatoes of Slater Farms in South Canterbury reduced expensive running costs. An ambient, temperature-controlled environment for potatoes was set in the existing storage shed — attained by consistent quality control in heating and cooling by NZ Foam.

Water and airtight, Foam keeps out all outside contaminants, is safe, environmentally sound, completely inert, with no off-gassing or formaldehyde, fully sustainable with 20% of recyclable materials.

“Foam is completely self-extinguishing. Datasheets and fire tests are incorporated as part of the CodeMark industry standard.” Chris says. "NZ Foam has the highest R-value on the market.”

Sprayed on, with no gaps or cold corners, it goes around any curve or corner, never moving or sagging over time. It can be painted and used on exteriors, and used under timber floors and is also adhesive to concrete and steel.

“We supply scaffolding and scissor lifts for any size building,” Chris says. The foam dries in seconds, minimising downtime.

“No maintenance is required, and the zero-lifecycle cost lasts the building’s lifetime. We confidently offer a 25-year guarantee for optimum performance and commit to bettering expectations of what we can achieve."

“It’s always a pleasure working with well-rounded and forward-thinking clients” adds Chris.
