Split Steel Framed Fire Rated Doorsets

The use of steel framing in a fire doorset is mandatory where a firewall of 90min to 240min is specified. Although steel frames can still be used for non-fire, 30 and 60min fire-rated doors using solid timber leaves.

NZFD have recently enhanced the steel split frame option to withstand the rigours of various commercial applications. They have been the frame chosen for major retail projects such the Westfield Newmarket development and The Crossing in Tauranga.

The frame features a two-piece design comprising a front half that houses the leaf and hinges and the back half which is subsequently fitted into place. The benefits of this option are:

  • Wall elements can be finished before the door frame is fitted
  • As the frame wraps over the fire rated wall, no backfilling is required to meet fire regulations
  • Unique design provides concealed fixing in behind the fire seal.
  • Internal and external applications with various door facing options
