The muchly anticipated opening of the $475 million, 28,000m² Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is nearing arrival with doors set to open before the end of the year.
"Located in the heart of Christchurch, the new building is capable of hosting up to 2,000 delegates for a variety of national and international events and includes a 1,400-delegate auditorium, a 3,600-square-metre exhibition hall and 1,600-square-metres of meeting rooms overlooking the nearby Victoria Square." — Woods Bagot Architects
With a 1400-seat auditorium, banquet seating for 1800 diners, and 24 meeting rooms with capacity for up to 1500 people, Mico Design utilised their expertise with large facility bathroom specification to assist in selecting products that are specifically designed for high traffic use.
The Dolphin Alavo Mirror Systems in conjunction with Dolphin wall mounted sensor taps and soap dispensers were selected for their clean minimalistic design, practical function, and robust qualities. These systems have previously been installed in large international facilities such as the Melbourne Airport making them a perfect option for a large multi-use convention centre.
Following the design brief of the unique Christchurch Avon River flowing through the city, the sleek and elegant Dolphin Alavo systems give the user a feel of having an individual wash space but with mirrors that flow seamlessly from one washpoint to the next.
Alavo is Dolphin’s washwall system, expertly engineered by designers, using the latest technology — including infrared sensor taps, foam soap systems with concealed cartridges and high speed, low-energy dryers. The components can be bespokely made to measure and it is completely customisable with trough basins, matching splashbacks and different lighting colour options.
