Rebuilding Christchurch One Tap at a Time

One year ago, In October 2018, Tūranga opened it's doors. The new five-storey library in Christchurch is one of the most high-spec public libraries in the Southern Hemisphere and the largest in the South Island.

Tūranga Library was an anchor project in the big Christchurch rebuild after the 2011 Earthquakes. The criteria for this project was very special, as it was representing a new era and way forward for many Christchurch residents.

Mico Design was asked to specify bathroom products that could withstand high public use. These included vandal-resistant fittings and time-delay taps, as well as accessibility-compliant solutions.

For kitchen facilities, Mico specified the exclusive Hansgrohe MySport Sink Mixer. With its sleek and comfortable design and excellent water efficiency, the MySport was the perfect fit for this project.

The building was further kitted out with accessible compliant bathrooms, further kitchen fittings and full bathroom features including matching accessories.

With over one million visitors in its first year, this building has already been through its tests and passed with flying colours.
