Mico Design has vast experience with assisting architects and designers with product selection and specification for aged care facilities. These projects often include patient assisted rooms, care suites, dementia wards and independent apartment or villa living.
Special consideration and attention to detail are required to ensure the specified products are fit for purpose and offer the best solution for the client and end user. Mico has an extensive supply network throughout New Zealand as well as overseas and can also source custom made products.
Apartment and Villa Living
Something the Mico Design team always discusses is ‘future proofing’ — making the space adaptable for the clients' future requirements. Whilst someone might be fully mobile and not require grab rails or shower seats in their apartment or villa right now, this may change over time so it’s important to consider having extra framing in place to enable future additions. People want to stay in their homes and be independent for as long as possible so future proofing offers great peace of mind knowing that the home can be easily adapted if their situation changes slightly.
Patient Assisted Rooms and Care Suites
These areas are extremely important and great care is given to ensure specification of accessible products that are user-friendly to not only the end user but also the caregiver. Something as simple as the addition of longer shower hoses or tapware with long lever handles in patient assisted rooms can make an incredible difference
In addition to the above areas, Mico Design can also provide/specify fixtures and fittings for:
- Cleaners' sluice and treatment rooms
- Staff and visitor WC’s and accessible bathrooms
- Kitchen or kitchenette products
- Multi-taps and boiler units
