Motivated by this shift, manufacturers of resilient floor coverings have devised ways for products to comply with acoustic building regulations (an essential requirement for breaking into the previously carpet-dominated residential high-rise apartment and upper-floor office buildings market) — however until now little could be done to actually improve the acoustics of hard flooring.
In response Karndean Designflooring has developed Looselay; a luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and plank flooring range with a built-in acoustic underlay. With the realistic appearance of timber planks or stone tiles, LooseLay meets all building regulations without the need for costly additional underlay.
The collection offers an exceptionally high acoustic rating across all ranges down to 57dB, measured under ISO 140-6. This is especially important for commercial projects that require even greater noise abatement.
As well as the noise reduction advantages of LooseLay, the simple "peel and release" adhesive installation system makes replacing damaged LooseLay planks easy.
