House of Dog is a Cromwell company that specialises in making bespoke handcrafted crates for indoor dogs. The custom-made crates are designed to provide a cosy resting area tailored to the size and needs of each dog, while also helping homeowners make the most of their space. Each crate provides a handy surface, with options for drawers and wine racks for added storage.
To manufacture the dog crates, House of Dog uses J-Panel by Juken New Zealand (JNL) — a general-purpose solid wood edge laminated panel made from 100% renewable Radiata Pine plantation forest. Typically used to manufacture furniture, wall units and kitchen componentry, J-Panel ensures the crates are durable with a classic furniture aesthetic that fits seamlessly into each interior.
J-Panel is engineered from the highest quality of any grade of solid wood. The Quartersawn Clears, which form the edge laminated panel, are made from pruned saw logs that are precision sawn and kiln dried and then dressed on all four sides. The result is a dimensionally stable, clear, straight (vertical) grain wood product, free of knots and high visual and aesthetic appeal.
J-Panel is commonly used for high-end residential or commercial applications where a highly visible, blemish-free, clean-lined modern look is required — such as cabinetry and furniture, solid doors and door frames, feature walls and internal finishing. The panels can be finished with a clear coat for a natural look or stained or painted. This versatility gives House of Dog’s customers plenty of choices to ensure their crate complements existing furniture.
Engineered to be strong and straight with outstanding good looks, J-Panel is a versatile, high-quality ideal for even the most bespoke furniture applications — as the work of the House of Dog team shows.
J-Panel is available from local timber merchants and comes in a natural uncoated finish. For sheet sizes, specs and certifications, go to jnl.co.nz
