International Merchants have just completed another multi-unit install of 27 Space Commander Units for The Dylan Apartments in Central Auckland. The apartments while spacious, did not allow for extra storage that the apartment tenants needed — clients with surfboards, bikes, camping gear, extra wine and the usual unwanted gifts from Christmas required an alternative storage solution.
The developer contacted International Merchants with their requirements and it all happened from there. The install was done over a five day period in early March, resulting in a happy and very satisfied developer. International Merchants were also able to ensure that the clients with larger SUV type vehicles were still able to use the units by lifting these 110-180mm higher than normal. For the first time in New Zealand a double decker unit was used, creating a massive 4.8m³ of extra space.
The Space Commander not only provides the perfect storage solution when space is at a premium, but also gives peace of mind for tenants with its security features. Space Commander is the perfect solution in resolving 'Section 6.3 Storage and Utility Space' as per Auckland City's Guidance for Apartments, whereby designers need to "Provide storage for sporting, leisure, fitness and hobby equipment in an easily accessible space elsewhere in the apartment building" and "Provide readily accessible space (internal or external, depending on the circumstances) for equipment associated with children such as pushchairs and bicycles."
