Supplied in New Zealand by Gunnersen, Weathertex is an all natural cladding product comprising 97% Australian hardwood and 3% natural wax pressed at high temperatures to form a durable exterior cladding of 9.5mm thickness (down from 150mm). With no artificial glues, resins, formaldehydes or silicas, Weathertex products have an impressive below-zero carbon footprint, making them an excellent choice for the environment.
Weighing under 10kg per m², Weathertex cladding is lightweight and easy to handle, ensuring quick and cost-efficient installation. Weathertex cladding can be cut using standard woodworking tools, and can be sawn or cut indoors. No silicones or adhesives are required for installation.
Weathertex is low maintenance, requiring repainting only every 15 years on average. With all sugars and starches removed from the hardwood, Weathertex is termite-resistant. It is made to last, and is carries warranties not to rot, split or crack for 25 years. Weathertex products are available pre-primed and can be painted on site in any colour, or can be stained, clear coated or even left to silver off for a natural look.
“Weathertex has been tried and tested in Australia for more than 50 years,” says Weathertex Regional Sales Manager, Gavin Wilson. “It is sold all around the globe and used in extreme climates such as Korea, India, France, Holland, Dubai and Italy.”
Now available in New Zealand through Gunnersen, Weathertex is suitable for a range of projects, from classic country homes to modern townhouses and apartments. The strength of Weathertex also lends itself to hardwearing internal linings for schools, hospitals, retail outlets and shopping centres.
